Chun Wing Kelvin Ip Hong Kong, China A Lifelong Pursuit of Knowledge: From Manchester to Global Ministries
My academic journey began in 1986 at the University of Manchester after graduating from a boarding school in UK, where I earned my Bachelor of Science with (full-time) honors. This experience ignited my passion for lifelong learning - a commitment that has guided my path ever since. After returning to Hong Kong, I dedicated over three decades to the management of public service sector, driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to our community.
While working full-time, I continued my education through part-time studies across Hong Kong's esteemed institutions: The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the City University of Hong Kong. Each program equipped me with tools to better serve others as a pastor, blending social justice, ethical leadership, and legal expertise.
In 2018, I embarked on my most ambitious academic endeavor: an online Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with the University of Management and Technology (UMT). This journey, which spanned 7 years, culminated in June 2025. The DBA program challenged me to merge decades of practical experience with cutting-edge business theory, reshaping my post-retirement vision into one of global impact. Immersed in research and writing, I cherished every moment of this intellectually enriching process.
Beyond earning the title of "Doctor" UMT’s DBA program gifted me something far greater: a vibrant global network of scholars and practitioners. These connections empower my work in international ministry, turning academic achievement into purposeful service.
I extend profound gratitude to UMT Hong Kong, especially Mr. Ray Cheng, for unwavering administrative and academic support. My deepest appreciation goes to my thesis supervisor, Dr. Mark Li, whose meticulous guidance, profound expertise, and patient mentorship were invaluable.
NOTE: Kelvin Ip is a UMT DBA ('25) graduate.
"This doctorate is not merely a personal milestone, but a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, and the collective effort of those who walk beside us."
