Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) - The 1st Accredited US Doctoral Degree Program registered in Hong Kong

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) is pleased to announce that its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program has gained recognition of the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government.

The EDB registration number is 261996.

2010 Graduation Ceremony in Hong Kong

The Graduation Ceremony was successfully held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr. Yanping Chen, UMT’s President, traveled to Hong Kong to attend the graduation ceremony for both Bachelor and Master graduates at the UMT. Dr. Chen welcomed the graduates and guests. She wished graduates the best in obtaining the knowledge through UMT program and to become global leaders in their fields.There are around 500 graduates and guests participating in the ceremony.

UMT Graduation Ceremony in Washington DC, USA

The University of Management and Technology Graduation Ceremony will be held in Washington DC, USA on June 19, 2010.

UMT President will invite all the Hong Kong Graduates to visit United States Capitol.

The graduation ceremony will be a wonderful experience for all Hong Kong graduates to share their happiness with their family members.

UMT Designated Kappa of Virginia Chapter of the Delta Epsilon Tau International Honor Society

The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) has designated the University of Management and Technology as the "Kappa of Virginia" Chapter of the prestigious Delta Epsilon Tau International Honor Society, a vehicle for recognizing superior student achievement.

“UMT is proud to accept this mark of distinction as representing a tremendous tribute to the high caliber of both UMT’s Faculty and programs,” said Academic Dean, J. Davidson Frame, PhD. “But above all, it is a well-deserved honor we owe our students, who work so diligently to acquire new knowledge and skills.”

Each inductee receives a Membership Certificate featuring the Delta Epsilon Tau Honor Society Crest and Gold Seal of Distinction, as well as an Honor Society Gold Key.

Only students who have met all requirements for degree completion will be considered. All undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral alumni will be screened for eligibility; those in the top 15% of each graduating class will receive an invitation to join the Delta Epsilon Tau International Honor Society.

UMT Participates in the 2010 Hong Kong Education & Career Expo

The University of Management and Technology participated in 2010 Education & Career Expo at Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre from 4-7 Feb 2010. Nearly 5,000 attendees were present at the exhibition.

At the exhibition, UMT representatives greeted a large number of people and helped them understand UMT's academic programs.

UMT's DBA Aspirant, Mr Victor Wong was present at the exhibition as the DBA student representative and helped the guests understand the DBA program.

The UMT DBA Seminar for the first cohort was held in Hong Kong Productivity Council on December 19, 2009. Students include executives from HSBC, Hang Seng Bank, Arup and various industries in Asia.

The founder of Sinomonitor, Ms. Maggie Fung was one of the most influential research companies in China, who have fruitful experience in China's New Marketing and Media Study. Through Sinomonitor Corporation, students learned the importance of brand development and how it helped the corporation to implement the new marketing strategy in China.

I think I had made the right choice to enrol the Master in Public Administration of UMT last year. I recall that the reason for studying a master degree in management relates to my career development. I am a clinical staff of a public hospital and I have been involving in management duties for over 10 years. Early last year when my boss was planning my career, he reviewed my academic qualification. As a clinical staff, I always thought that I had already attained the necessary qualification because I had already possessed a M Phil degree and a PHD.

I joined the UMT and studied this course which provided me with everything I needed. It equipped me with profound knowledge in the management field, both in theory and in practice. It widen my horizon and helped me develop my potential and fully utilize my talent. I can now apply my newly attained knowledge to the daily operation in a public organisation. Of course, it fit my personal schedule very well.

The officers are Sergeant Cheung Kim-fung, and PCs Lau Yuk-fai, Lui Wing-hing, Lau Chi-chung, Wong Chung-yin, Wong Po-chun, Chan Cho-kin, Tsoi Yiu-chung, Wong Kam-wai, Chan Wai-tak, Chan Man-ting and Cheung Po-chi.

"The programme meets the needs of today's busy students. It is flexible, delivered through new and innovative technologies, and allows students to achieve their educational goals outside a traditional classroom setting," said SGT Cheung.

All the 12 officers say they enjoy lifelong learning because they can prepare themselves for the dynamic changes in the law enforcement work in Hong Kong. Lifelong learning also enables them to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing environment and the ever-increasing demands of the public they serve. They also have had an opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge with fellow students from different trades.

At the Graduation Ceremony held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University earlier, SGT Cheung had the honour of giving a speech as the Graduate Representative on the stage in the presence of the UMT President.
