2007 BBA Classmates - CHEUNG,
Kim Fung Eddie
“UMT provides me opportunity to prepare
myself for the dynamic changes in the law enforcement work
in Hong Kong.” Eddie says
I’m Police Sergeant and have been serving in the Hong Kong Police Force for 19
years. As an existing member of the Force, I find both experience
and life-long learning equally important. I always give myself
opportunities to attend courses in order to keep myself updated.
Therefore, I have completed a Diploma Course in Legal Studies
from the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and
Continuation Education in some years ago and I found that
useful in my work.
I realized that good management skills are very important in my work, so I have
decided to study the Bachelor of Business Administration
course from the University of Management and Technology since
2006.
I enjoy life-long learning as it provides
me opportunity to prepare myself for the dynamic changes
in the law enforcement work in Hong Kong. It is also necessary
for me that can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing
environment and the ever increasing demands of the public
we serve. The UMT studying is a good chance for me to exchange
my experiences and knowledge with colleagues from different
areas.

“UMT provided an environment
competitive enough to bring out the best in me.” Judy says.
When introduced to business in high school I realized that it interestingly qualified
as a subject of both management and marketing. During my
Bachelor’s program I equipped myself as best as I could,
with various tools used in studying in Business Administration.
I obtained rigorous training in marketing development, economics
and management theory. I want to delve deeper to join the
Master program in UMT.
I am working in Hong Kong Monetary Authority from 2007 since I finished my studies
in Aston University in United Kingdom; I used to study logistics
management and hospitality management in Australia and United
Kingdom. I found the foundation of business studies is useful
and important for my future development.
The reasons of why I choose UMT are
various, UMT is a reliable and stable University and the

2008 BSCS Classmates IP, Yan Kit Dicky
“I can learn more
theories and updated technology in computer science through
the BSCS program in
UMT.” Dicky says. Since my graduation of professional diploma in computer science long time ago,
I participated in information technology industry major
in computer operations. Currently, I am an Assistant Technical
Services Manager of an international bank in Hong Kong
and lead two teams under information technology department.
Due to the job nature with high workload and variable working
schedule, it was much difficult for me to select a study
for enhancement through the traditional part-time learning
programme until I learnt a flexible distance learning programme
from UMT that fit my study time model and provide a harmonic
time-balancing among my work, study and family.
I can learn more theories and updated technology in computer science through
the BSCS program in UMT. With the implementation of the
techniques learnt in UMT, I believe it will provide me
with a fresh incentive and encouragement in my work to
better prepare for the forthcoming challenge in the future.

2008 MBA Classmates - John Luen
“I continued my MBA
program at UMT.” John says. I worked for the Australian Consulate General in Hong Kong between 1991 and 2005.
During the time period of 1996 – 2001(5-years), my duty
was to supervise a group of staff members in the administration
section in order to complete their daily mission. In
November 2001, I was transferred to the Passport and
Consular Section as a passport and consular officer.
My main duties were responding to front counter inquiries
and taking passport applications. In April 2002, I was
sent to Canberra Australia for consular and passports
training. In June 2003, I was formally promoted to the
position of Manager of the Consular and Passports Services
Section.
I left the Australian Consulate in June 2005 and started another job in July
2005 for MJB InterCommunication as an Administrative
Manager until the present.
While working for MJB, I found
that my qualifications were not competitive. Therefore,
I decided to continue my education to further my career.
Luckily, my current job has not given me too much pressure.
Hence, I used two years of my time to complete a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business Administration at the University of
Management and Technology (UMT).
"After achieving
my Bachelor’s Degree at UMT, I felt that studying at
UMT was convenient and suitable for me, being a full
time worker, because UMT has provided a flexible learning
style of on-line learning. The student can choose the
completion time according to your availability."
Subsequently, I continued
my MBA program at UMT. It took more than a year to complete
the designated courses. In this time period, I have met
lots of new classmates who have all become my good friends.

Currently, I am a Director of an Education Center in Hong Kong and management
issues in daily routine. Due to the job nature with variable
